Griha Pravesh

Griha Pravesh Puja is a Hindu ritual performed before entering a new home or dwelling to seek blessings for peace, prosperity, and well-being of the residents. It is also known as the Housewarming ceremony.

The ceremony involves performing a havan or yagna (sacred fire ritual) to purify the house and eliminate any negative energies. The priest recites mantras and offers prayers to the deities, seeking their blessings for the well-being of the residents. Offerings such as fruits, flowers, and sweets are made to the deities.

During the ceremony, the family members carry a kalash (a pot filled with water and decorated with flowers) and perform a puja (worship) at the threshold of the house. They then enter the house, and the priest performs a puja of the main deity of the household. The ceremony is followed by a feast for all the guests.
