The legend behind Tulsi Vivah Puja is based on the story of Tulsi, who was a beautiful and pious woman. She was married to a demon named Jalandhar who had obtained a boon from Lord Brahma that he would be invincible as long as his wife remained chaste. However, Jalandhar became arrogant and started to cause havoc in the universe. The gods then approached Lord Vishnu and requested him to find a solution to defeat Jalandhar.

Lord Vishnu then took the form of Jalandhar and approached Tulsi in the guise of her husband. Tulsi, who was a devoted wife, welcomed him with open arms. However, when she realized that it was not her husband, she cursed Lord Vishnu and turned him into a stone statue. Lord Vishnu then explained his true identity to Tulsi and she became his ardent devotee.

In order to pacify Tulsi, Lord Vishnu promised to marry her every year on the day of Kartik Ekadashi. Thus, the tradition of Tulsi Vivah Puja was born.

On the day of the puja, a clay idol of Lord Vishnu is decorated with flowers and ornaments and placed on a decorated platform. The idol is then surrounded by Tulsi plants which are also adorned with flowers and leaves. The puja is then performed by the devotees who offer flowers, sweets, and other offerings to the deities.

Tulsi Vivah Puja is believed to bring prosperity, good health, and happiness to the devotees. It is also considered to be a way of seeking the blessings of Lord Vishnu and Tulsi Devi for a happy and harmonious married life. The puja is particularly important for newlyweds as it is believed to bring them good luck and blessings for their new life together.

In conclusion, Tulsi Vivah Puja is a significant Hindu ritual that is performed to celebrate the marriage of Tulsi and Lord Vishnu. The puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion by the devotees and is believed to bring prosperity, good health, and happiness to their lives.
